Overview of the Academic Advising Unit
Academic advising is one of the pillars of university education, as it aims to guide students to obtain the best results, adapt to the university environment and seize the opportunities available to them, by providing them with academic skills that raise the level of their educational attainment, and given the importance of academic advising in the faculties of the University of Bisha, A specialized academic advising unit was formed to support and guide students. Academic advising is the responsibility of all faculty members, not just the Academic Advising and Support Unit. Therefore, all faculty members participate in the activities of academic supervision of students.

Helping students develop abilities and capabilities, and solve academic problems, to reach the highest possible degree of academic compatibility. Unit 
Objectives 
1. Preparing students to adapt to university life. 
2. Providing students with correct information about the college, educational policies and study programs. 
3- Enhancing the academic achievement of students, raising their abilities and overcoming the obstacles they face during their educational attainment. 
4- Reducing the chances of academic failure for low-level students. 
5. Taking care of students with low and faltering academic achievement, taking care of them, and following up on them to improve their academic level. 
7- Taking care of and assisting students socially, financially, healthily, psychologically and functionally, if necessary.
8- Paying attention to the gifted and talented and providing advice that enhances their abilities and supports their creativity. 
Tasks
  1. Follow up the implementation of the general plan of university guidance at the college and recommend the necessary measures to ensure quality in its implementation. 
  2. Studying plans to raise awareness for students of the importance of the concept of university counseling in guiding them to plan for their educational and future future. 
  3. Verify that students are distributed among the mentors and that they receive invitations during the semester from their mentor to visit and follow up on them. Reviewing the safety and ensuring procedures of the guides' work operations and their development, and following up on the cases brought to them. 
  4. Recommending the coordination of lectures or extension seminars to provide group counseling, and intensifying posters and signage guidelines in the college. 
  5. Suggesting solutions to students' recurring problems raised by university advisors. Receiving reports from the university counseling coordinators in the departments at the end of the semester on what has been accomplished.​
  6. Studying and reviewing the final report on the achievements according to the plan set at the beginning of the semester, and it includes the effectiveness of each faculty member in counseling, the number of counseling cases, and sorting cases according to the type of counseling required for them and the action taken in regard to them. 
  7. Recommending programs for people with special needs (gifted - handicapped - learning stutter). 
  8. Studying other work assigned to it, and taking appropriate decisions within the limits of the powers granted or delegated by the authorized person. 
  9. Submitting the minutes of the committee to the dean of the college for discussion and approval by the college council. 
  10. Submit an annual report to the college administration on the activities of the committee.
  11. Studying the cases referred to it by the college administration, preparing reports on them, and submitting them to the competent authorities. 
  12. Considering the students' academic problems that are raised by the advisors and seeking to solve them with the college administration.
